On Tuesday April 9, 2024 at 18:47 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 300 block of Fairway Lane in The Greens Community off of Irons Lane in Dagsboro. Fire Chief Walt Johnson arrived on the scene to a 2 story residential with nothing evident from the Alpha side. Initial report was a discarded cirgarette that had fallen into a stairwell. The owner was unsure if it was extinguished. Engine 84-2 arrived as the 1st due engine and secured their own water supply. They investigated the interior of the residence. Engine 84-4 arrived as the 2nd due engine and secured an additional water supply. A small fire was discovered in the living room and quickly extinguished by the crew of 84-2. The fire was placed under control in approximately 20 minutes. Engine 84-2, Engine 84-4, D-84, Traffic Control 84-13 and Fire Police made the response.
