Friday, December 2, 2011

On Friday, December 2 at 10:44 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident across from the entrance to Blackwater Village on Vines Creek Road. Units began responding within one minute of the dispatch. The emergency personnel arrived to a single vehicle accident involving a Mercury Mountaineer that was traveling east and left the right side of the road impacting a large utility pole. Millville’s ambulance personnel provided initial care to the four occupants of the vehicle and transported them to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes with non-life threatening injuries. Lieutenant Cody Lockwood declared the situation under control at 11:09 a.m. and turned the scene over to the Delaware State Police. Traffic was detoured around the accident scene until Delmarva Power arrived to replace the damaged utility pole. At 6:30 p.m. Delmarva Power was still working on the replacement of the utility pole. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
