Serious accident on Central Avenue
Saturday, May 26, 2018

Memorial Weekend starts off tragically on Atlantic Avenue for a Pedacyclist in Ocean View

On Saturday, 26 May 2018, at 1007 hours, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted by Sussex County EOC to respond to a collision in the unit block of Atlantic Avenue involving a pedacyclist and a motor vehicle.

MVFC responded with the ambulance, rescue unit, and traffic control unit. Sussex County Paramedic Units 103 and 105 responded due to the seriousness of the bike operator.
The elderly individual that was operating the bike was air-lifted by Delaware State Police Medevac to Christiana Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Captain Shawn Evans commanded this operation.

I have learned this individual required resuscitation at the scene by EMT’s Meghan Hudson and Glenn Johnson. Corporal Nick Herrington from Ocean View Police Department was reported to have initiated the life-saving efforts with his Automatic External Defibrillator. We are very fortunate to have our police officers trained and equipped with an AED in their patrol vehicles.

At the time of this report, the gentleman’s condition is unknown. We ask that this 76 year old Ocean View resident remain in your Prayers.

For obvious reasons I choose not to include any photographs.
